Please read all of the following carefully before placing your order, as only the "Bracket Mount" plates require mounting brackets.
If you opt to use New Style Snap-In switch plates, you won't need a bracket for your new GE switches, since the switches snap directly into the switch plates.
If you currently have the old, discontinued brackets and you're replacing your switches, selecting the New Style switch plates will save you money, since you won't need to buy new brackets for your replacement switches.
With the exception of the plate with 1 vertical switch shown here, new switches are mounted horizontally in the New Style plates.

Note: The brackets sold on our site for these plates are not compatible with your original GE or Bryant switches. They are designed for use with new switches sold here and "Bracket Mount" wall plates only.
In the image at left, the top bracket holds 1 or 2 switches, and the bottom bracket holds 3 or 4 switches.
Use this series of brackets, switches, and switch plate covers if you currently have this style in your home, prefer the look of a vertical switch arrangement, or if you want the flexibility to leave the switches in place when you remove your switchplates, say, when repainting your walls.
The original style GE low voltage switches are no longer manufactured. If you need to buy new low voltage switches to finish your remodeling project or get your home ready to rent or sell, then you need to buy newer style switches and the wall plates that fit them.
These new GE switches are also the compatible replacement for your old Bryant brand low voltage switches.
Trying to find to find a 3-way GE low voltage switch? Good news! You don't need to buy a separate switch - simply wire any low voltage switch in parallel with the other switch (or switches) in a circuit that you want to use as a 3-way switch or a 4-way switch. When you set it up that way, any switch on the circuit will be able to turn the lights on or off. This is one of the convenient advantages of momentary low voltage light switches - all it takes is one brief touch to flip lights on or shut them off.
GE's newer white and gray switches have been discontinued. Ivory is the easiest replacement option. You can get replacement switches in white or gray by adding Pass & Seymour 1091 despard trigger switches, which are compatible with your GE components and may be used instead of GE brand light switches. The P&S switches are mounted in brackets and fit despard switch plates.
The brand new GE low voltage switches available above can not be used with your older, outdated switch plates or mounting brackets - as demonstrated in the photo here.
In this image, both an Old General Electric Switch and a New GE Switch are installed in the original (now discontinued) mounting straps or yokes.
With effort, the replacement GE switch was jammed into the old strap, but since they are thicker (protrude more) than the old switches, the switch plate will not mount flush with the wall. Instead, they will stick out about an 1/8" revealing your cut plaster - which, we're sure, is not the look you're going for.
Save yourself some time and order the new replacement switch plates that are compatible with your new low voltage switches.
Another option when replacing broken switches is low voltage toggle switches which come in white, ivory and brown and can be paired with standard toggle switch plates in a variety of finishes.
Have a house from 1950s & 1960s with lo vo wiring? Shop with confidence when you need to buy GE low voltage switches and replacement parts for your older home low volt lighting system. Find pilot light switches, locator lights, and raise/lower switches, too. For a 3-way low voltage switch, just wire any switch in parallel with another on a circuit.
Touch Plate switches can be used as replacements by doubling the number of buttons. When using Touchplate Classic, Mystique, Innova, and Ultra switches, the old red/ON wire goes into terminal 1 and the old black/OFF wire goes in terminal 2 for each button set replacing one vintage switch, etc., and the white common wires are pigtailed together so one wire can be inserted into the SC (Switch Common) terminal.
The pigtail wire attached to the wire nut will be wired to the SC Switch Common terminal on the back of the Touch Plate Unit.
