See Wall Recessed Electrical Outlets for electrical plugs that are set back from the wall surface to allow room for cord plug ends behind flat panel televisions, computer monitors, etc.
Safety & Convenience of In-Floor Outlets
By eliminating the need to stretch power cords across walkways and other high-traffic areas, floor boxes are the safe way to provide access to electrical receptacles when lighting fixtures, computers, phones, and other equipment require a power source that isn't near a wall.
Replacement Floor Outlet Plates & Caps
Lost your floor plate? What are your replacement options? Each brand of floor box assemblies has their own floor plate sizes and screw hole spreads, so measure carefully (from center to center) when you buy a replacement floor outlet cover.
Note that only Allied brand sells the plates apart from the entire floor box assembly. Allied plates will only work with Allied boxes. Confirm the brand of your floor box prior to ordering.

Remove your cover plate to determine which brand your floor box is prior to ordering a replacement cap.
Types of Floor Mounted Electrical Outlets
Floor outlet boxes have recessed electrical sockets that allow you to plug in cords from lights, lamps, computers, etc., from anywhere in a room that you need a power source. What are the differences between the floor box electrical outlets?
Single Receptacle - Usually the smallest of the floor boxes, there is a single plug recessed into the floor.
Double Receptacle - Available in both single gang or double gang floor boxes, these covers typically have two screw caps so you can access one plug at a time white keeping the other covered until needed.
Rectangular / Square Floor Box - The easiest to install with its straight sides that require four straight cuts in the flooring.
Round Floor Outlets - Circular floor boxes have round cover plates free of sharp corners so are safer around bare feet and are less of a tripping hazard.
Wood Floor Outlets - These drop-in floor electrical outlets are designed for wooden subfloors that have carpeting, tiles, linoleum, or hardwood surfaces. Most have plastic floor boxes with heavy-duty metal floor plate covers.
Sockets Set Back Into Wall - See Recessed Electrical Outlets for electrical sockets that are pushed into the wall to accept the cord plugs from flat panel TV sets, computer monitors, etc.
