Pilot light electrical devices for switch wall plates in residential and commercial locations. These illuminated switches are useful in situations where you want to be alerted that a device or load is on. You'll find pilot lighted rocker switches, Despard switches, toggle switches, single pole and 3 way switches. (Not made in 4-way.) Note that pilot switches are lighted when ON. 15 amp and 20 amp versions available in red, clear, and white.
Different Types of Switches that Illuminate:
Pilot Light Switches
The switches sold above are pilot light switches - meaning they illuminate when ON.
This is to alert you that lights in another location that can't be seen from the switch - such as outdoor patio lighting, a detached garage or basement lights - are on.
Locator Switches
Locator switches, on the other hand, illuminate when the lights are OFF.
You may find these in hotels rooms, for instance, to help you see and navigate to the switch in the dark.
A. No manufacturers make a 4-way pilot lighted switch. Because the demand is so low for such a specialized switch, it is not economical to produce them.
