Update your lighting with newer type 2-vertical GE switch low voltage wall plates in a one-gang configuration. These 1-gang 2-switch low voltage face plates are designed for dual GE newer snap-in electrical lighting switches eliminating the need of yokes, straps or brackets as the devices are held in place by the trim plate itself.

If cover is installed in a vertical direction (screws up/down), then the top button on each switch will turn on lights; the bottom one will turn them off.
If wallplate is installed a horizontal direction (screws left/right), then the left button turns lighting on and the right button turns it off.
