Will these ivory electrical devices match the ones currently installed in my home?
Ivory outlets, toggles, and dimmers tend to darken noticeably from exposure to light or particulates in the air over time so it is virtually impossible to "match" older ones when buying new devices. A more realistic expectation is that switches will coordinate within a range, and in fact, slight variations in color will become less noticable after the initial installation.
Please be aware that every electrical device manufacturer uses their own specific shade of ivory and that this color may vary between lines, with older products typically being a darker, more classic ivory and newer products being a fresher, more updated shade.
The finish of the devices - gloss vs. satin vs. matte - will also affect the perceived color. The photo shows popular brands of ivory electrical devices installed in our ivory light switch covers. This may be helpful if it is important to you that devices and wall plates match as closely as possible. If so, you may be better off replacing older devices and choosing all new ones from within a single collection from a specific manufacturer, although this may be a challenge depending upon your lighting needs.
What is the difference between ivory and almond switches?
Not sure if you have almond or ivory devices? If you're looking for new light switches and outlets to match what you have in your home, keep in mind that not only do electrical device colors vary by manufacturer, but they also change color over time in your home. New switches may not be a perfect match to what you have. If you want darker switches with a yellow tone, the ivory ones for sale above are the way to go. If you want something lighter that's not as yellow but still not as stark as white switches, you'll want to shop almond switches & outlets.
Here we have a comparison of both an almond and ivory rocker switch in an ivory cover plate.
