Q & A

Q. I need to replace a Remcon switch. Can I use this one-button Genesis switch? A. No. 1-button Touch-plate switches can only be used in a Touch Plate system (a 2-wire system) where the same button can be pressed to alternately turn the light on or off. In contrast, Remcon is a 3-wire system, so in order to adapt Touchplate's switches to work in a Remcon system you have to double the number of switches you were using so that one button turns the light on and the other turns it off. Q. Is this a 3 way low voltage switch? A. Yes, all low voltage switches can be wired to be a 3 way. The switch is just wired in parallel to the relay it is controlling. The relay responds when receiving a signal from either switch. Q. How do these low voltage switches work? A. The Genesis switches are SPST (single pole, single throw) which is a momentary action. The relays do not have a NO (normally open) or NC (normally closed) position as they just hold their position until triggered by a push of the button. To control lights, you would push the button once for ON and push the button again for OFF.

    Perfect Fit - Simple Replacement

The Genesis low voltage touch plate switch was a perfect replacement for what looks like the original 1950 installation. After shutting off the breaker, it took just three minutes to replace the old with the new. I bought two extras for future replacements - by either me or the next owner.

    Exactly what was needed

The house I bought had similar switches that were cracked, yellowed, and not pleasant to look at. The switches I bought from Kyle Design fixes all those issues, and work fantastic to boot.

    Inherited Low Voltage Home Lighting

We purchased our home that was built mid 50’s and the builder used low voltage lighting. As we are renovating we wanted to update the switches so I began searching the web. These switches work perfectly and brighten up the decor so my wife is very happy!! They are costly but Kyle Switch Plates have what I found to be the lowest price. Looks like I will order the rest

Perfect for Z-Wave in-box controller switch

I've got Aeon Z-Wave 'micro' switches in most of the lights of my house. I had a rad time finding switches, and ended up with 'Decora' momentary switches, with work great, but they're VERY stiff. These switches are MUCH better/nicer. Light touch on/off, and perfect for the low voltage Aeon controller.

Installed and will probably order rmore as the remodel progresses

We had the old switches which were brown buttons with ivory plates and this is a welcome upgrade. I installed them myself. Very easy. I do wish they were a whiter white to match the new white outlets and of course they are quite pricey.

    Exactly what I needed

Low voltage switches hard to find, with regular switches when one is on others in house can not work. This was perfect and easy to install. Thanks!

    Satisfied Customer

So glad to find this specialty low voltage touch-plate and switch. These are not easily found at local electronic suppliers. I ordered 3 to replace older switches not working so well anymore. They are exactly what I needed and my electrician had no problem installing. I'm so happy I found this site, and will come back if I need more.
