How To Replace Vintage Enercon Brand Light Switches
These Enercon light switches have 4 wires and were previously marketed to businesses looking to reduce cost of facility operations.
To replace an old Enercon switch with a new Pass & Seymour momentary trigger switch, you need an adapter wire for connecting the replacement switch to the Enercon brand relay. Simply connect yellow adapter wire to yellow TR relay wire, black to OFF contact of new switch and red to ON contact of switch.
Pass & Seymour switches may be used with an adapter to replace old switches. The Enercon adapter is sold individually here. The adapter is included with Pass & Seymour's replacement switches available for purchase on this page (above) or using these links (select by finish): white, ivory, gray.
These switches may be wired in parallel in an Enercon system.
New P&S 1091 replacement switches (also known as Despard or momentary trigger switches) require a separate mounting bracket that can be purchased along with the switch adapter when used in an Enercon system.
Shown here, a triple despard cover with 3 P&S 1091 switches mounted in a despard strap.
If replacing relays with Touch Plate powered relay packs and switches switches can be wired in parallel as long as there are no communication wires and the switches are not wired in series.
