Do you want to dim the lights from 1 location or from 2? Keep reading to determine which parts are compatible with your lighting setup.
A single-pole (S/P) application dims and turns the lights on/off at a single location. You can do that with the CFL LED Universal Light Dimmer.
A 3-way setup in which you want to dim the lights from one location and simply turn them on/off from another location, you can use the same CFL LED Universal Light Dimmer with a 3-way TM873 rocker switch.
If you want a 3-way setup in which you can dim the lights from both locations, you'll need the Master dimmer and the Remote dimmer.
If you're looking to dim electronic low voltage (ELV) or mechanical low voltage (MLV) lighting, you'll need the ELV MLV Universal Dimmer Switch. This can be wired for single-pole or 3-way use.
Electrical components are manufactured by different companies so the finishes of each varies. This dark bronze plate shows a blank toggle insert in dark bronze on the left and a modern style outlet in dark bronze on the right:
As you can see, each finish varies. The dark bronze electrical devices have a red tone that the dark bronze plates & inserts do not. The inserts are spray painted to match the dark bronze plates & devices as closely as possible, but are not an exact match.
Best Switch Plates for Bronze Devices:
Metallic bronze plates are an exact match for these bronze devices and offer a modern look with no visible screws.
Keep in mind you are limited with configurations with these plastic screwless plates that only have four sizes: rocker openings in single, double, triple and quadruple configurations.
They also cover more wall space than the standard switch plates shown below, so be sure you have enough room around your device to accommodate this midsize plate.
The next best look for satin bronze switches is our Venetian Bronze wall plates. Both have a warm, reddish tone that makes them an excellent choice for kitchens with cherry cabinets, stained butcher block countertops or luxury master bathrooms with warm-toned granite, marble, or other high-end surface materials.
In a vintage room with antique hardware or furnishings, get antique brass plates to cover these elegant bronze switches.
This is a fabulous choice to match antiqued curtain rods, sink faucets, wall sconces or aged brass table lamps.
To really embellish your living space, garnish your walls with decorative light switch covers.
We recommend brown plates with copper designs to match these bronze switches. Aren't they stunning?
For painted almond kitchen cabinets with a brown glaze, blend in your cover plates by choosing the light almond finish. Then, tie in a deep chocolate or hazelnut glaze with decorative bronze outlets and light switches.
Dark bronze switch plates don’t have the same warm, red tone as the bronze switches, so if your switch is going in a well-lit area such as across from a window, you should opt for brown or venetian plates instead.
For darker areas of the home in which you want your switches and covers to blend in with a dark chocolate wall, you can achieve a uniform look when pairing bronze devices with dark bronze plates. Without light shining directly onto the switch, you won't notice the variation in color tone.
You can pair bronze switches with oil rubbed bronze plates also. Keep in mind the devices have a red undertone, while the oil rubbed bronze pull more toward yellow.
For a very dramatic look, consider trendy copper switch plates with your deep tone bronze electrical switches. Copper is popping up all over kitchens this year in decorative accents, copper walls, pots & pans, appliances and more. This mixed copper and bronze look is the perfect way to complete the look in an updated kitchen or new build home.
Dark Bronze vs Brown Devices
There is a limited selection of devices available in the high-end dark bronze finish. Find other devices in brown if you're looking for more.
If you need a device that isn't available in metallic bronze, such as a fan control or toggle switch. brown is the next closest match.
Fan controls (shown here) have a gloss finish and the brown is more red in tone than the dark bronze switches, outlets and dimmers that are available.
Many people who buy designer finish switch plates also want their switches to have a high-end look. Your choices for upgrading the look for your outlets and light switches are bronze and nickel silver.
Bronze electrical devices have a warmer tone than regular brown switches and have a stunning sheen that will make your home feel ritzy. They're an excellent choice when updating a room with bronze, brass, almond or copper switch plates.
Looking for dark bronze toggle switches or regular duplex outlets?
Older style toggle light switches and duplex receptacles are not manufactured in this newer, modern finish. But you can still add this look to your home - simply update your electrical components by swapping out your duplex outlets with block outlets and your toggles with rockers. You'll need new cover plates to go with your updated switches, but the end result will be worth it. The other alternative is to pair dark bronze with brown devices.
